Transport entrepreneurs have demanded up to 75 per cent waiver in custom duties and applicable tax in the purchase of new vehicles that would displace the vehicles serving 20 years. Submitting a memorandum to Minister for Physical Planning and Transport Ramesh Lekhak here on Wednesday, the National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs put forth such demand to comply with the government’s decision to prohibit the running of public vehicles that are more than 20 years old. Federation President Dolnath Khanal told RSS that they demanded this as billions of investment of the nation would go waste in displacing the old vehicles, and purchase new ones. The Department of Transport Management has decided to remove 20-year old vehicles from the Kathmandu valley from February 28. Receiving the memo, Minister Lekhak said that discussion would be held with stakeholders regarding the demand of entrepreneurs. Earlier on February 13, the Federation had submitted a similar memo to Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Krishna Bahadur Mahara. - See more at: http://www.lightnepalvideo.com/videos/arun-dev-yadev/#sthash.MCQpLQKX.dpuf
