Leader Poudel said this while talking to journalists at the Tribhuvan International Airport upon his arrival home from South Korea today after participating in a programme organised by the party’s sister wing, Janasamparka Samiti, South Korea.
He said if the local elections take place within May this year, then it would be possible to hold the election of the Province Assemblies and the Federal Parliament within November.
“There is no alternative to holding all the three tiers of elections for enforcement of the constitution and the parties should be serious on this,” he said.
He also questioned the possibility of the election given the Madhesi Front’s stance that the election cannot take place without the constitution amendment, the UML’s stand that elections should be held foregoing the constitution amendment and the Prime Minister’s emphasis on holding the election only after patching up the two divergent views.
Poudel also demanded that the Madhesi Front parties should make their views on the report of the Local Body Restructuring Commission, urging all parties to work together for holding the election.
